Averett, Elynore Ellie, age 78, of Orlando, passed away on September 7, 2017 after her battle with cancer. Celebration of life will be held at 1:00pm on Saturday, September 30,2017 at Carey Hand Colonial Chapel, 2811 Curry Ford Rd. Orlando, Fl. 32826. Ellie was born in 1938 in Sturgis, MI to the late John and Melvina Simpson. She graduated from Sturgis High School in 1957 as a class leader and member of the Platterettes, a prominent fraternal club at the school. Ellie was accepted to attend Michigan State University. She was also invited to attend The Juilliard School in New York as a talented pianist. She was unable to attend either and married in Sturgis giving birth to two sons, Mark in 1959 and Jon in 1967. She moved to Colorado Springs in 1969 and in 1978 went to work at a CPA firm as a statistical typist preparing client financial statements. Because of her hard work and proficiency, she became the hub of the office. She met her current husband of 35 years, Bill Averett, there. They moved to Orlando in 1980 and she continued to work as a statistical typist. She retired to maintain their household, but was called back to work in 1989 to support her husband and his partners in establishing Averett, Warmus & Durkee CPAs as their first employee. When able, she retired again and enjoyed socializing with family and friends. She was respected everywhere she worked and dearly loved by her family and lifelong friends in Orlando. Colorado and Michigan. She is survived by her husband Bill, her two sons, Mark Moline of Howe, IA and Jon Squier of Colorado Springs, CO, her grandchildren, Ashlie Squier of Leavenworth, KS and Tanner Squier, of Colorado Springs, CO, her sister, Betty Myers of Raleigh, NC, her cousin, Col. Earl Burley, USA Ret. of Tampa, FL and many countless lifelong friends who loved her.
