Eleanor M. Lewis, age 95, left this world and met her Lord and Savior on Thursday, April 23, 2020. Eleanor was born in Coffeeville, MS on March 22, 1925. She was the fourth of five children born to James and Vera McKibben. She lived on the farm until she graduated high school. She went to Alaska for a year with friends and worked at a dry cleaners.
In May 1954, she began her career as a bookkeeper at Sun Bank (13 years) and Walgreens (10 years) in Orlando. Eleanor was married to Mack T. Lewis for 30 years before his passing in 1998.
Eleanor was very active in her church and always willing to help others. Her covered dishes at parties and church fellowships were legendary. She loved to cook and everyone loved to eat what she cooked. She also loved to read and work in the yard. Her “green thumb” was amazing.
Eleanor is survived by her loving companion, Wayne Roach, her sister, Elizabeth Womack, and many nieces and nephews. She was especially close to her nieces Rubie Lewis and June Harris. She had many close and dear friends who were important in her life. She will be missed by all.
Due to Covid-19 restrictions, there will only be a small graveside service at Woodlawn Memorial Park for family members on Tuesday, April 28. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to First Christian Church of Winter Park, 1140 S. Lakemont Avenue, Winter Park FL 32792.
