Edna Faye Thompson, 83, passed peacefully in the early afternoon of June 6, 2015 in Altamonte Springs, FL. She was born in Sunshine (Harlan County), KY on January 17, 1932. She was preceded in death by her husband, George Riley Thompson, her parents William D. Tinker and Mary Tinker (nee Stoner), brothers Harlan and James Tinker and sisters Edith Hammack and Ruby Ingle. She is survived by her son, Rick Thompson and wife Cherie, Tampa; daughters Donna Welch and husband Allen and Mary Thomson and husband Steve, all of Orlando; grandsons Troy Thompson and wife Lesley, Hanover, NH; Tyler Thompson and wife Lauren, Tampa; and Trevor Thompson and his girlfriend Shannon Long, Galveston, TX; granddaughters Callie Thomson and Emily Thomson, both of Orlando; great-granddaughters Mia and Sophie, both of Hanover, NH.
She will be remembered as a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother as well as a woman of integrity. Her passions were her family, especially her grandchildren, her cats, the Tinker Family Reunions, which she started, and traveling the country with her husband, especially by train. She was an avid bowler and a league participant in both, in Harlan, KY and Clearwater, FL for many years. She was also a member of many social organizations during her early life in Harlan and Loyall, KY.
Viewing will be Thursday, June 11th, from 10am to 11am followed by services beginning at 11am, at Carey Hand Colonial Funeral Home, 2811 Curry Ford Road, Orlando, FL 32806.
Edna will be buried with her late husband, George, whom she loved dearly, at Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell, FL, at 1:30pm on Thursday.
