Douglas Puckett

Douglas Eugene Puckett, age 88, passed away with his family at his side on March 27, 2020.  He is predeceased by his parents, Arthur Harrison Puckett and Bertie Arell Brock Puckett, and his wife, Sara Merle Puckett. Douglas is survived by his sister Susie Corley and husband John Corley; three children, Kelvin Puckett, Teresa Puckett-Barry, and Larry Puckett; daughter-in-law Beverly Puckett; grandchildren, Sarah Tyriver, William Puckett, Matthew Puckett, and wife Jamie Puckett, Jennifer Puckett-Guzman and husband Eric Guzman; step-grandson, Benjamin Williams; great-grandchildren, Emily, Faith Lilah, Isaiah, and Zoey.

Douglas was born at home on February 4, 1932, in Buford, Gwinnett County, Georgia.  He joined the Air Force at the age of 17.  Married his devoted wife Sara at the age of 22, building a beautiful life together with their three children until her passing on April 18, 2010.  Douglas retired from the Air Force with over 20 years of service.  Later settled in Orlando, Florida, where he then worked and retired as a Refrigeration Technician for Orange County Public Schools, owned his own car lot Doug’s Auto Sales, and purchased many rental properties.  Douglas had a big heart and was a very giving man.  He helped many people in the Orlando community when they were struggling with food and rent.  He enjoyed collecting and repairing clocks and watches, taking cruises, making others laugh, and spending time with his family singing the song “You Are My Sunshine.”
