Dennis Malcolm Purvis

Dennis M. Purvis, 73, of Orlando, FL, stepped into heaven on November 16, 2024. Born on November 22, 1950, in Savannah, GA, Dennis moved with his family to Orlando, FL in 1954. He grew up in the Orlando area and graduated from Boone High School in 1968.

Dennis proudly served in the United States Army from 1971 to 1974. After completing his military service, he followed in his father's footsteps and entered the HVAC industry. Dennis became a Service Manager at Mechanical Services Incorporated (MSI) and dedicated over 50 years of his career in the industry.

Dennis was married to his loving wife, Sharon (Hooks) Purvis, for 48 years. Together, they had two children, Geri Lynn and Nathan (Nikki), and three grandchildren, Noah, Nash, and Natalie, whom he was incredibly proud of and affectionately known as Papa Dede.

An avid outdoorsman, Dennis enjoyed hunting throughout North America. He was also a passionate reader and made it a point to read through the Bible each year. Dennis became a member at Delaney Street Baptist Church in 1969 and was a Deacon for many years.

Dennis is predeceased by his father, M. Wendell Purvis, his mother, Velma Jean (Bacon) Purvis, and his brother, David Purvis.

He is survived by his wife, Sharon; children, Geri Lynn and Nathan (Nikki); grandchildren, Noah, Nash, and Natalie; and his sister, Debra Lucius (John); brother-in-law Steve (Sharen); sister-in-law Shirley (John); nephews Doug and Chris, and nieces Stephanie, Stacey, and Jordan.

Dennis will be greatly missed by all who knew him for his love, devotion to family, and unwavering faith. He will forever be in our hearts.

Services will be held on Saturday, November 23, 2024, at Delaney Street Baptist Church, 1919 Delaney Avenue, Orlando, FL. Visitation for family and friends will begin at10: 00a.m with funeral services to follow at 11:00a.m. Graveside services will be at Woodlawn Cemetery, 400 Woodlawn Cemetery Road, Gotha, FL, at 2:30p.m.
