Charles Velez

August 27, 1944 — April 22, 2022

Charles, known as Chuck to his family and friends, was born in Ponce, Puerto Rico. His family moved to Florida when Chuck was a young boy. They settled in Sanford and that is where Chuck grew up. When Chuck was of age he joined the United States Air Force. He served at Andrews Air Force Base near Washington, DC. While serving, he met a young lady, Janet R. Lake. A romance bloomed and they were married. A year later they had their first child, Kimberly. Soon after Kim's birth, the family moved to Sanford, Florida. Life was good. Ten years later a 2nd child was born, Christopher, and three years after that they had their 3rd and final child, Deborah. Chuck and family were now living in Orlando, FL and were happy. Chris married and had 2 children, Brandon and Alexander. Debbie had one child, Kairi Kim had one child, Barbara.
Chuck and Janet loved their grandchildren. Unfortunately, in 2004, Janet passed away from medical complications. A few years later, Chuck met a wonderful woman, Lisa. They were together 14 years. Chuck was very proud of his sheet metal fabricator career. He was a Master sheet metal craftsman. Chuck loved to go fishing, he loved old cars, and he loved old movies. Chuck was very proud of his military service. He served during the Vietnam era. He was a Personal Equipment Specialist. For the last 4 years of his life, Chuck battled Lewy Body dementia. Sadly, Chuck suffered a stroke on 4.20.2022. He passed away quietly in his sleep on 4.22.2022. Chuck is survived by his brother- Glenn, sister-Carmen, girlfriend- Lisa, daughter- Kim (Odus), son- Chris, daughter- Debbie, grandchildren- Barbara, Brandon, Alex, and Kairi. He has 3 great grandchildren- Jayden, Mason, and Dexter. He is also survived by family in Virginia, who loved him very much.
We love you Dad and will cherish all the memories of you. Rest peacefully.
