Charles Scott

April 1, 1934 — June 11, 2020

Orlando

Charles “Charlie” Raymond Scott, age 86, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, June 11th, 2020. He was born, the second of nine children, on April 1st, 1934 to the late McGregor and Myrtle Scott. Charlie grew up in Collingswood, NJ where he graduated from Collingswood High School in 1952.

At the age of fourteen, Charlie accepted Christ as his Savior at Harvey Cedars Bible Conference. He also met his beloved Geraldine “Jeri” Roulston while working at Harvey Cedars. After serving in the Coast Guard for seven years, Charlie and Jeri were married on June 13, 1959. They made their home in New Jersey where they were active members of their church. Their four children: Colleen, Adrienne, McGregor, and Jacquelyn were born during their time in New Jersey.

Charlie graduated from Temple University with a degree in Business Administration in 1970, while working for Bell Telephone of Pennsylvania. In 1978, his family moved to Belle Isle, Florida when Charlie began working for AT&T.

Charlie was an example to many of what it meant to love the Lord and serve others. An active member of Fort Gatlin Alliance Church, he served as a youth leader, choir member, Sunday School teacher, and elder. Charlie volunteered in the print shop at Wycliffe Bible Translators, and at Pine Castle Elementary tutoring students and serving on the School Advisory Committee. He was also an active community member, serving as a Belle Isle City Commissioner for thirteen years. Charlie was the Mayor of Belle Isle from 1990-1995. During his years with the City of Belle Isle, Charlie served on the Legislative committee for the Florida League of Cities and was a founding board member of Cornerstone Charter Academy.

Charlie’s life verse is from Hebrews 13:15-16: “Therefore, by Him let us continually offer the sacrifice of praise to God, that is the fruit of our lips, giving thanks to His name. But do not forget to do good and to share, for with such sacrifices God is well pleased.” Throughout his life, Charlie shared his time, talents, and treasures. More importantly, he shared his faith with those near to him. He was a godly man who leaves behind children and grandchildren who know and love the Lord because of his faithfulness.

Charlie is preceded in death by his wife, Geraldine, his daughter, Adrienne, and his sister Dorothy Scott Doreian. He will be greatly missed by his surviving family including his three children: Colleen Hardy of Orlando, FL; McGregor Scott of Somerset, KY; Jacquelyn Brown and husband Brian of Miami, FL; his seven siblings: McGregor Scott, Emma Peace, Myrtle Scott, Elizabeth Hewlett, Arthur Scott, Lois Ward, and Marty Scott; and his ten grandchildren: Adrienne Hardy, McGregor Scott, Abigail Scott, Annalise Scott, Rebekah Scott, Charles Scott, Elisabeth Scott, Rileigh Brown, Joshua Brown, and Tyler Brown.
