Carmen E. Alvarez Martinez

Carmen E. Alvarez Martinez, 96, beloved mother and grandmother passed away peacefully in her sleep at the Bedrock Rehab and Nursing Center at Winter Park on September 3, 2024. She was born in Cuba on February 12, 1928, the oldest daughter of Andres Alvarez and Zoila Alvarez Mato. She had five sisters and one brother. She was married for 60 years to Magdonio Martinez until his passing in 2008. She is survived by Roberto Martinez, her son (spouse: Maggie) and Gisela Martinez Gonzalez, her daughter (spouse: Jose). Carmen also had three granddaughters, five great-grandsons and four great-great-grandchildren. Besides her love for her family, Carmen's life-long passion was her skill to sew anything such as clothes, baby baptismal outfits, bridal/quinceañera gowns, curtains and even upholstering furniture. Even though Carmen is gone, she will always live on forever in our hearts.

The funeral service (conducted by Apostle Cornelius L. Freeman) will be at Carey Hand Colonial Funeral Home on Sunday, September 15th at 11:00am with viewing at 10:00am. The burial service will be at Woodlawn Memorial Park.

Donations in her name can be made to the Alzheimer's Research and Prevention Foundation at www.Alzheimersprevention.org.
