Ann Webb Carns December 14, 1934 – December 5, 2024

It is with a heart full of love and gratitude that we celebrate the life of Ann Webb Carns, who peacefully entered her forever home on December 5, 2024. Ann, born on December 14, 1934, in Mobile, Alabama, was the youngest of seven siblings, and from the very beginning, she brought joy, light, and energy to those around her.

Ann’s journey took her from the charming streets of Mobile to Samford University in Birmingham, Alabama, where she met the love of her life, Charlie Carns, at a fraternity dance. Their love story continued as they transferred to the University of Alabama, where they married and began building a family together. Ann and Charlie were a true partnership, sharing a life filled with adventure, love, and laughter.

Devoted to her family and friends, Ann was known for her warmth, generosity, and impeccable style. She embraced life with enthusiasm, from her lifelong membership in Phi Mu Sorority to her active involvement in the Orlando Junior League, to volunteering each week at Winter Park Hospital as a Pink Lady. Whether she was out on the golf course (where, let’s be honest, she was more about having fun than keeping score), enjoying a lively game of bridge, or perfecting her shrimp and grits recipe, Ann always did everything with a sense of joy and heart. Her homemade biscuits and seafood gumbo were a hit at every family gathering, and they will be remembered with love by all who had the privilege of tasting them.

A committed mother and grandmother, Ann dedicated countless hours to her children’s activities, serving as room mother, Girl Scout leader, and attending every event she could. She was the welcoming hostess for every family gathering, where laughter and love filled the air, and she cherished every moment spent with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Ann's mornings were filled with energy—she'd tackle the daily crossword puzzle, take a walk with her dog, and tend to her garden. Even in her quieter moments, she was always surrounded by a spirit of life and enthusiasm, never one to slow down or shy away from a good conversation or a new adventure.

Ann is predeceased by her adoring husband, Charles (Charlie) Earl Carns. She is lovingly survived by her children, Cynthia (Cindy) Carns Kuykendall (Jack) and Charles (Chuck) Earl Carns, Jr. (Debi), as well as her cherished grandchildren: Laura Carns Angileri (Nat), Charles Michael Collins, Jr. (Katherine), Amanda Carns Hackett (Wes), Christa Collins Ingrum (Cameron), Pallie Kuykendall Shunk (Andy), Madison Kuykendall, and seven great-grandchildren, each of whom brought her boundless joy.

The family would like to extend heartfelt thanks to the caring and compassionate staff at Allegro Winter Park, whose support made Ann’s final years so special.

A celebration of Ann’s extraordinary life will be held at a later date, where we will gather to share stories, laughter, and love in her honor.
