Alice Lynne Bounds, 85, passed away on Friday, February 11th, 2022 here in Orlando.
Born to Paul and Claire Hannum in Columbus Ohio, the family moved several times before finally settling in Miami, where she met Jim Bounds. The two married in 1962 and started a family. After several more moves, they landed in Orlando in 1974, where Lynne joined the PTA at her son's elementary school. From there, she moved up the ladder to President of Orange County PTA, then President of Florida PTA and then on to Region Vice President for the National PTA. Her time with the PTA was important to her - she often talked about one day being a housewife with just a high school education and suddenly finding herself sitting in the East Room of the White House with President Reagan, at tea with the Clintons, or in a meeting with the Surgeon General! The experiences she had and the friends she made truly lasted a lifetime.
Besides her love for family and friends, her other true passion was books. When the Orlando Public Library started their Books-By-Mail program in 1976, she signed up immediately! They estimated she checked out thousands of books over the years, and we know she read them all!!
Lynne was predeceased by her husband and her parents, and leaves behind her son Mike and daughter-in-law Leslie, as well as her "adopted" daughters Leslie (Hooper) McCarrick and Cynthia (Hooper) Rice.
A private funeral will be held at Greenwood Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, we ask that you donate to the Orange County Public Library System in her name, or simply read a book and think of her.
