Alfonso Gabbedon (Age 96) died peacefully in his home in Orlando, Florida on June 28, 2020 surrounded by family. He was the husband of Marcelina Hurtado to whom he was
married for over 50 years. Alfonso was born in Santiago, Cuba April 27, 1924 to Rose Gabbedon and Arthur Moore. Alfonso is predeceased by his parents and siblings;
Nieves, Adela, Gloria, Mayu, Zoila ,Vincent and his daughter Margarita. Gabbedon or “Gabbe” for short, as he was called by many, came from humble beginnings, was self
taught in learning culinary skills, worked on Guantanamo Bay Naval Base during the times of the Cuban Revolution. He then exiled to Puerto-Rico in the 1960s where he
worked in the construction industry. Gabbedon eventually moved to New York City where he continued developing his culinary skills as a Chef at NYU medical center and
met Marcelina. Alfonso was an industrious go-getter, who always sought out better opportunities to make his family's quality of life improve as well as help others establish themselves by
taking them into his home. Alfonso Gabbedon was a devoted husband, father, big brother, uncle and grandfather. Him and his wife enjoyed hosting friends,
traveling, laughing, and dancing. He brought joy and laughter with his witty sense of humor, charisma and larger than life personality. Alfonso is survived by his wife; four
children: Alfonsito Gabbedon, Laura Sanchez, Encarnacion (Puruka) Gabbedon, Arturo Gabbedon; eight grandchildren: Vanessa Pinillos, Lilly Gabbedon, Michael Merchant,
Yacou Fofana, Abraham Fofana, Adam Fofana, Adonis Gabbedon, Amadeus Gabbedon.
