Alan Mortensen

It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Alan Richard Mortensen on January 11, 2015. Alan was born and raised in New York, New York on September 28, 1927. He married Elaine Barbara Stasiak in 1954 and raised 4 children Barbara Serianni, Rick Mortensen (Pam), Stacey Mortensen, and Donna Irving (John). In 1959 he moved to Orlando Florida to take a position with Martin Marietta as an engineer and retired after nearly 30 years. He was preceded in death by his siblings John, Gustave, Doris and Grace and his wife Elaine. In 2005 Alan married Julia Ann Armes with six grown children of her own; daughters Maureen, Kelly (Ken), Linda and sons Rick (Marcia), Scott (Diane) and Kirk (Stacy). Together they have 30 grandchildren (spouses) and 13 great grandchildren. Through his adult life Alan enjoyed playing tennis, golf and bridge where he met and made incredible lifelong friends. In later years, as he and Julia together had a very large family, it was all about family time, their precious Maltese Maggie and enjoying the beautiful lake views from his backyard. A memorial service will be held at 2 PM on Saturday, January 17, 2015 followed by a "Sharing of Memories" at Carey Hand Colonial Funeral Home at 2811 Curry Ford Road, Orlando, Florida.
